A FRIENDLY BATTLE BETWEEN AFRICA AND SOUTH AMERICA?
As we all know, our beloved country is going to be meeting
with the mexicans in the next couple of hours...
The match is scheduled to kick off in the Reliant Stadium,
Houston, Texas, United States of America 8pm. Both teams agreed to a friendly
match but we all know its going to be more than a friendly especially if one of
the two countries scores first..The Naija fans on the other hand want a win for
their country so as to know how much the players have prepared for the
qualifiers. I'm quite sure the mexican fans want the same for their team too.
The Super Eagles will clash with the Kenyans on the 5th of
June and also the Namibians on the 12th of June before they progress to Brazil for the
FIFA Confederations Cup from the 15th to 30th of June. Also, the Tricolore will
be facing Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica.
I believe our players will take these Mexicans on without
flinching. I mean, the so called Tricolore haven't won any match since October
last year. Not like the super Eagles played up to expectations in their last
match but I'm quite positive memories of the AFCON still lingers in their
heads. Some of the players have indeed proven that they merited the cup as they
went on to win trophies with their respective clubs; Joseph Yobo won the
Turkish Cup for Fenerbache, Victor Moses and
Mikel Obi won the Europa Cup with Chelsea, Elderson Echiejile won the Portuguese Cup with FC Braga and Efe Ambrose won double with Celtic.

According to
JAVIER HERNANDEZ
a.k.a. Chicharito (Man Utd and Mexico Striker)
- The most important thing is to have a good game with which we can prepare for our next games against a team who are not just the African champions but have so many players playing abroad.
- African teams generally are always full of "running" and they have improved a lot in recent years, therefore, it will be a very nice game to play in. We are preparing well to face Nigeria but more importantly, we are thinking more about our games against Jamaica, then Panama and Costa Rica.
- My head is 100% focused on the team, I’m happy and I am here with the desire to bring that part of me to help the team.v
STEPHEN KESHI (Super Eagles’ Chief Coach)
- We need to continue and in fact we are continuing from where we stopped in South Africa where we won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. We hope to continue to build a strong team that would be able to withstand the test of time (Keshi told Goal).
- A good result in this match will put us in good stead for the important 2014 World Cup qualifying match first against Kenya in Nairobi and the second one also away to Namibia. So we need to play well and play good against Mexico to toughen us ahead of the qualifiers.(Keshi told Goal).
- We are here to give a good account of ourselves as a team and also as the champion team of Africa
Both have spoken well as you would expect from Mexico's top striker and the Coach Of Nigeria..
Chicha actually believes we Africans love to run with the
ball and he probably thinks our players are a little bit rough on the ball. Well,
we all know that is true. But tonight, we would prove to him that our boys
could also be intelligent with the ball. With this our current squad, the Mexicans should not even be a problem for us. But we all know what these our
players are capable of doing.. Breaking our hearts, giving us sleepless nights,
not making us eat well, making us break up with our girlfriends, you know what I
mean right? But I know we're past all that.
Tonight, We're going to feed on
them as an Eagle on its prey…yeah! We are going to make them regret playing a
friendly match with us. Every match is personal to us because WE'RE THE
CHAMPIONS OF AFRICA !!!!!!!
