Joachim Loew's Germany Continue To Flatter To Deceive.

In a game expected to be the group's top match (Poland Versus Germany), many football fans were left disappointed with the stale and slow game pattern of the "German Machines".

This was the team to beat in this tournament with an array of stars in every position but that is for those who did not watch the game as the German team lacked the creative and sharpness that has gotten them 3 European competition crowns. Against Poland, Germany struggled all night and one not knowledgable in football will fail to spot that the team are the World Champions. Even though Joachim Low's team had 67 % of ball possession, attempting 17 shots, it is important to note that Polish and Swansea goalkeeper Luckasz Fabianski had only two saves to make all night.

Perhaps it might be that a country which produced names as Gerd Muller, Rudi Voller, Jurgen Klinsman  and Miroslav Klose can no longer afford to start a top No. 9 in an European tournament big game . This shows a dearth of top class German strikers with only rejuvenated but old Mario Gomez the only notable striker in the squad for the Euro's. Though Poland is no push over as it boasts the likes of Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich), Lukasz Piszczek (Borussia Dortmund), Grzegorz Krychowiak ( Sevilla) and Kuba Blaszczykowski (Fiorentina) yet this was nothing compared to even the bench of the German team which had such names as Andre Shurlle, Leroy Sane, Lucas Podolski, Skhodran Mustafi and Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The German team has shown that it needs a formidable striker to spearhead it's attack as Mario Gotze clearly showed why Pep Guardiola cast him aside during his reign at the club. The Once "Bright light of German football" often broke down play by passing backwards instead of moving it sharply forward and failing to score the first goal when presented with the glorious opportunity instead preferring to hit Fabianski's big gloves. This is not to discredit the former Borussia Dortmund player as is the scorer of the lone goal in the 2014 FIFA World Cup Final against Argentina in Brazil rather the point is to categorically state that Gotze is not a striker and cannot function effectively as one.

Low's team lacked fluency instead playing the easy predicable attacking football despite their clear superiority over their Polish counterparts, they stick to a very suspect gameplay and of course it's no surprise that two of the team's goals so far have been scored either by deep lying midfielders (Bastian Schweinsteiger ) and a centre-back Mustafi. What this explains is a lack of creativity in the team as they currently play like players who are not match fit and lacking ideas.  Germany cannot go far in the tournament playing this way and Joachim Low must do something to arrest the situation before they met stronger and more tactical opponents in the knock out stage.

Also Poland must be applauded for containing the Germans as Adam Nawalka's side showed good technical awareness and zeal to match their counterparts.
