Talk Show: Is Nigeria Ready for the World Cup?

Hi, my name is Gift Chukwuka. Welcome to this exclusive interview with Sports Analyst, Michael Eidaghese. He is going to be here with me through the World Cup. The Super Eagles of Nigeria have drawn their last 5 and lost 1 in their last 6 friendly matches and do not look like they are ready for the World Cup. Nigerians are not ready to listen to any kind of excuse and they'll be expecting them to qualify from the group with Argentina. This and a whole lot we will be talking about.

G – Welcome to the show
M – Thanks, I’m honoured to be here
G – How do you feel about Suarez leaving Liverpool
M – I’m not bothered about that, trust me.
G – If you say so…I believe soon you will.
M – Let’s leave Suarez’s issue for later and let’s face the World Cup.
G – As a Nigerian, are you not scared of the Argentines? I mean.. Just look at that attack
M – Argentina isn’t the main focus. What about Bosnia? Are we 100percent sure of beating them? As far as I’m concerned, if we win the 1st 2 games and lose to Argentina, we will qualify for next round. So Argentina should not be the worry at all. If we were playing Argentina first, then I can go with you for the fear of Argentina.
G – What’s one thing you think Nigeria needs to have in this tournament?
M – Coordination.
G – You think they are not coordinated?
M – Yes but if we can comfortably beat Iran, the coordination and confidence will come on the team. I mean winning them with a good margin. It will be an automatic turn around effect for them.

G – So what formation do you propose the Super Eagles use?
M – The formation in my head can’t work for us. And I have no idea of what Keshi will do.
G – What do you have in your head?
M – What I have in my head is us choking the midfield a bit more and let’s have our 2 top attackers in front or maybe one of the attackers will come deep a bit and support the midfielders like a diamond formation. And the other lone striker will remain up front. Someone like Emenike.
G – Who will assist?
M – The assist should be someone that is good with a footwork
G – And that would be?
M – Definitely not Ameobi, who is aerial on the ball, head
G – Victor Moses?
M – No way. Most times he seems lost on ideas when he gets in the box area. Osaze could try. He could try to fit in just behind the lone striker with some through passes.
G – Okay, let’s have your prediction on each of the Super Eagles of Nigeria group stage games.
M – 1st game against Iran will be 2-0. 2 -1 against Bosnia
G – And Argentina?
M – 1-0 as well but in Argentina’s favour
G – So you believe your defenders can hold against their massive attacks?
M – Yea. Luck will work for us and deprive them from scoring. I believe they will lose a lot of chances.
G – Thanks, Michael
M – It’s a pleasure.

Thanks for your time and don’t forget to share and comment as we embrace this glorious event happening live in Brazil – the World Cup. And don’t forget to follow us on twitter, @footballsermons. Have a wonderful evening.
