Martinez Have Succeeded Everywhere Moyes Has Failed
By Azeez Said
The beginning
of this EPL season saw a number of clubs having managerial changes. The one
that sent waves across the football world was the retirement of Sir Alex
Ferguson. After 26 years of managing Manchester United and winning 38 trophies,
he finally announced his retirement and the big question came "who will
succeed Sir Alex Ferguson?". An announcement was made on the 9th of May by
Manchester United that David Moyes would succeed Sir Fergie at the
end of the season.
Moyes didn't
just start getting things wrong. It has started long before the season started
when he could not strengthen the Premier League winning side. He went after
players like Cesc Fabregas that
refused to end his love story with Barcelona, Thiago Alcantara who
later joined Pep Guardiola at
Bayern Munich,Herrera, Leighton Baines among
others but to no avail. He later went back to his last resort, Fellaini, having to
pay £4 million more than he should have originally paid.
Roberto
Martinez, on the other hand, had a success story after the transfer market.
Letting the dead woods go and bringing in young and exciting talents. The likes
of Victor Anichebe and Marouane Fellaini were
allowed to leave, holding on to Baines after
rejecting bids from Man United. He brought in Barry, Lukaku, Deulofeu (all on
loan), McCarthy among others who have all been a revelation this season. I
can't help but think what would have been if he was provided with enough fund,
maybe even buy Messi.
Moyes, unlike
his successor, have had a hard time in his new job , leading Manchester United
to
their worst start to a League season in decades. He seem short of ideas at the moment after trying different combinations all over the field to get his best 11 so as to change their fortune but he is not close to getting that than he was in their last game.

Young players
at Man United have seen opportunities hard to come by with players like Januzaj,
Wilfred Zaha, Phil Jones
finding it hard to get the nod ahead of the old heads.Vidic and
Ferdinand have been preferred in defense when fit, Valencia, Ashley Young
and Nani still
get more playing time when it is so obvious they are not at their best. Moyes
has to start planning for the future and give these young lads chances in the
first team.
It is not the
same story at Ewood Park,
with young players getting a chance in the first team to express their talents.
Players like Lukaku, Ross
Barkley, Gerard Deulofeu and McMcCarthy have
been regulars in the starting line up, improving game after game and the future
looks bright for them.
