Vardy Has Made His Decision

Whether Vardy comes or not, the fact that he even has to “ponder” it is a very telling sign of where Arsenal are in the hierarchy, to be honest. 

I mean, no player waits until after the Euros to make a decision. That will just deviate his concentration even more. I personally think Vardy has already made his decision – to stay at Leicester city.

Infact, I don’t think he ever planned on moving. He used Arsenal’s offer as bait to get an improved offer from his own club. It should be close to what Arsenal is offering, and Vardy won’t bulge on a couple of ten or twenty grand.

If Chelsea, Man City or Man Utd were second in the league to Leicester last season and made a move for Vardy, would he have to think about it, especially when he’s as good as guaranteed a starting spot? Would Gary Lineker have the gall to call them “perenial also-rans”? Would Trevor Sinclair (TREVOR SINCLAIR!!!) be wondering whether it’s worth it for him? 

A back-down-to-earth realization is that Vardy deciding to stay in Leicester wouldn’t surprise me one bit and will only reinforce what many of us know. Arsenal is a faded force whose lack of ambition over the last decade is catching up to them, and are nowhere near as good an attraction as they think they are – for other players or even their own! It’s the reason they get a knot in their stomachs when Bayern or Barcelona sniffs around Ozil or Bellerin.
