Blame Wenger!

You guys still criticizing Per Mertesacker for revealing that he is lacking motivation I think we should look squarely at his manager.

It's very silly of Mertesacker to say such because he has left himself open to criticism from fans but at the same time it's a comment which is indicative of Wenger's bad planning.

Wenger has been at Arsenal for 18 years and still doesn't know how to get good continuation and form from his players using squad rotation. Players need rest and they play a lot of football games if they are challenging on all fronts.

Wenger has left his defence threadbare and Mertesacker is one of the few who is usually fit. He has played more than 70 football matches in the last 14 months. That comes to a game of about every 5 or 6 days at a very high level.

This is bound to bring about mental jadedness and still Wenger doesn't look to bring in a squad rotation CB to relieve the pressure on Koscielny and Mertesacker.

Wenger is guilty of gross neglect of his squad and Arsenal should be mixing themselves up there with Chelsea and City given their general management stability over the years. Over the summer he should have gotten a CB, a holding midfielder and top class striker and the regression would not be happening.

It's no wonder Jose calls him a specialist in failure; he does not identify and plug holes. There are few players who can play this many games and most of them are attackers.

I think that the squad game really has been the downfall of Wenger... he should have been licking his lips at Fergies retirement and he just allowed City and Chelsea to pass Arsenal by. I guess this has now become a thinly veiled attack on Wenger but I really feel for Arsenal fans.
