Are Arsenal Critics Right?
The only thing Arsenal has done in the past few days is prove to critics that they have been right all along. Football loving fans have argued that the Gunners are only top of the EPL table cos of their easier fixture list compared to the other top 6 teams like Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and co.
Even if their result in the EPL this season is compared to that of last season, Arsenal have dropped 5 points against Aston Villa and West Brom, losing to the former at home and sharing the spoils with the latter while they took full points in the corresponding matches last season.
In the October/November fixture comes Arsenal's first real test to their title credentials this season. They meet Dortmund twice in the UCL, Chelsea in the Capital One Cup, Liverpool and Man Utd in the league and so far it has not been good for the gunners.
For the first time since February 2013, Arsenal lose back to back home matches and this is coming at a time they are supposed to prove doubters wrong, losing against Dortmund then Chelsea. Their performance particularly in the Chelsea match was lackluster to say the least, with Arsenal playing like the away team right from the first whistle. They played with the least urgency i have seen them play this season. They played like they were 2 goals up when they were 2 goals down. For a team like Arsenal who are yet to win any trophy in 8 years, a better performance was expected of them.
Out of 5 testing matches, Arsenal have already failed in 2 they have played. It is left to be seen if they will get anything away at Dortmund, from the onslaught of a Liverpool team buoyed by the SAS combination and a slowly resurging Manchester United team in their next 3 matches. Anyway this goes this matches will help put a stamp on their title credentials this season if they come out of it on top.
